The 518 Heavenly Master Zhang Temple Fair (2026, Year of the Bingwu)

at the Ancestral Home of Taoism, Longhu Mountain

The "518 Heavenly Master Zhang Temple Fair" is an annual grand celebration held at Longhu Mountain, the cradle of Taoism. This auspicious day marks the sacred birthday of the 48th Heavenly Master, Zhang Yanpian. As we celebrate his holy nativity, we pray for the eternal flourishing of Taoist wisdom, the prosperity of the Orthodox Method, world peace, and universal well-being.

Longhu Mountain, the ancestral home of Taoism, is the source of the Zhengyi (Orthodox Unity) Tradition, boasting an unbroken lineage spanning over a thousand years. Since the First Heavenly Master, Zhang Daoling, founded the religion and spread the Tao, successive generations of Heavenly Masters have inherited this sacred lineage, teaching the world, relieving suffering, and protecting all living beings.

The 18th day of the fifth lunar month marks the sacred birthday of the 48th Heavenly Master, Lord Zhang Yanpian. Inheriting the ancestral teachings during the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, he was decreed by the Emperor to rebuild the Mansion of the Great Heavenly Master. He expanded the estate by adding the Imperial Decree Pavilion, the Grand Altar of Myriad Methods, and the Heavenly Master Ancestral Temple, laying the architectural foundation for the Temple Mansion as it stands today. His efforts revitalized the ancestral home of Longhu Mountain, ensuring the Zhengyi tradition would flourish for generations to come.

Following traditional rites, the Heavenly Master Mansion hosts the 518 Temple Fair to honor the great deeds of our predecessors and express deep gratitude for the ancestral masters' protection of the world. During the festival, a series of traditional rituals and cultural activities will be performed, including:
